AHEAD is an interdisciplinary platform with public-purpose roots and a consultancy-facing future.

Based in Malta and working across local, national and European-facing contexts, AHEAD brings together climate governance consultancy, reflective practice, youth-centred development and selected forms of applied advisory support under one coherent identity.

The aim is not to appear broad for its own sake. The aim is to hold together a serious body of work that helps institutions, organisations and partnerships think more clearly and act more coherently.

Expert-led interdisciplinary model

AHEAD operates through an expert-led pillar model that connects climate governance, EU programme and space-related innovation, reflective practice, organisational development, youth work and youth policy.

This model reflects the expertise of Fabian Borg, Rowena Marie Borg, James O’Donovan and Miriam Teuma across their respective areas of responsibility. It allows AHEAD to support institutions, partnerships and project environments with a blend of technical, organisational, policy and practice-based insight.

Pillar responsibility

Fabian Borg leads AHEAD’s Climate & Governance and EU Programmes & Space pillars, including Climate Command™, PHASE 2®, digital twins, AI-supported decision-support, Horizon Europe and ESA PECS-related positioning.

Rowena Marie Borg leads Reflective Practice & Organisational Development. Youth Work & Youth Policy draws on the combined expertise of James O’Donovan and Miriam Teuma, linking European youth policy, reflective methodology, national implementation, Erasmus+ management and capacity building.

One brand, two complementary entities

AHEAD operates through two complementary entities. AHEAD Institute for Societal Advancement Ltd is the primary route for consultancy, commissioned work, strategic support and institution-facing assignments.

AHEAD Foundation for Societal Advancement supports partnership-based work, public-benefit initiatives and wider social-purpose activity. This structure allows AHEAD to remain coherent as one brand while responding appropriately to different forms of engagement.

What makes AHEAD distinct visual

What makes AHEAD distinct

AHEAD works across areas that are often treated separately. Climate is not only technical. Organisational strain is not only managerial. Youth work is not only programme delivery. Many real challenges sit between categories and require a more integrated response.

AHEAD exists to work in that space with seriousness, clarity and proportion.

How AHEAD works

Our work may take the form of consultancy, strategic advice, facilitation, project development, editorial work, partnership contribution, learning design or selected technical support.

Across all of these, the emphasis remains consistent: grounded analysis, careful framing and outputs that people and institutions can actually use.

Leadership and direction

AHEAD is shaped by complementary expertise across climate governance, reflective practice and youth-facing work. This leadership model supports the organisation’s interdisciplinary character and helps ensure that strategic, developmental and educational dimensions can be held together without losing coherence.

AHEAD is building a stronger body of work across climate governance, reflective organisational support, youth-centred partnership activity and selected advanced capability. The aim is to become more useful, more credible and more mature in the kinds of work the organisation is able to support.

See how the pillars connect

AHEAD’s structure is clear, but not rigid. Many client needs cut across more than one pillar, and the most useful route often becomes clearer through discussion.
